15,000 psi MLWL with optional tether points and protection jacketSecc has recently fulfilled an order for 2 bespoke 15,000 psi, dual valved, Mid Line Weak Link (MLWL) connectors to be utilised by a major operator in West Africa. The operator intends to use the Emergency Quick Disconnects (EQDs) to provide a zero-leak failsafe breakaway in the event of the intervening DP-2 vessel losing dynamic positioning during acid stimulation operations.

The operator requested that tether points be incorporated onto both ends of the MLWL. This allows tethers to be attached between the subsea infrastructure and the female side of the connector, and between the male side of the connector and the vessel. The tether lines serve the purpose of bearing the tensional load created during an uncontrolled disconnect. In this instance, the hoses do not see tension and are therefore protected. The tether points also assist in the ease of deployment and retrieval of the connector.

Secc’s bespoke EQDs are tailored to satisfy a client’s individual requirements for specific applications. We are committed to delivering on the demand for innovation
