Subsea UK Awards 2018 Shortlisted Finalist Logo - Big (002)

Secc are pleased to announce their shortlisting as a finalist in Subsea UK’s prestigious Innovation for Safety Award category. The Innovation for Safety Award recognises an innovation made in a system or piece of technology that has significantly contributed to improving safety within the subsea sector.

Secc focuses on safety, reliability and performance. They chose to nominate their Hot Make Hot Break (HMHB) connector for this award due to its increased prominence as an Emergency Quick Disconnect (EQD) in the global subsea riserless intervention market. The HMHB decreases operation risks and improves the safety of interventions conducted from a dynamically positioned (DP2) vessel.

The connector is primarily used to provide a safe controlled connection and disconnection point, and a safe point for emergency disconnection for well intervention operations. It is a full-bore, pressure balanced, dry-break passive EQD that will disconnect in an emergency with no spill to the marine environment. It therefore provides protection to the environment, subsea asset, vessel and personnel in the event of a dynamically positioned vessel drifting off whilst anchored via the fluid conduit to the subsea asset.

Winners will be announced at the Subsea UK Awards dinner and ceremony taking place on 8th February 2018 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. Secc wish to extend their best wishes and good luck to all nominees at the awards.
