The Siri Knutsen a former chemical tanker, was converted into a DP2 shuttle tanker in 2013.
The design covered the whole conversion, which involved the installation of a bow loading system (BLS) and all the equipment necessary for the vessel’s new role. In addition, many of the ship’s existing systems were modified, and new stability and damage stability calculations were made.
Secc’s Hot Make Hot Break (HMHB) QCDC was a critical part of the Siri Knutsen conversion. Acting as the Hose End Valve (HEV) and receptacle the 4 inch HMHB allowed for quick and safe connection/disconnection of transfer hose during routine and emergency scenarios. Unlike traditional HEV’s the HMHB offers Full bore, zero spill with integrated impact protection.
